From feeding her baby to changing her nappies to singing lullabies, Lara Dutta is busy playing a hands-on mother to her seven-month-old daughter Saira. She says that the rest of the things have taken a backseat as she is enjoying the most satisfying, yet challenging role of her life.

The former beauty queen is so engrossed in nitty-gritty of her domesticity that not only her entire schedule but her conversation too revolves around Saira.

“In all honesty, Saira has become the biggest selection barometer for me to choose on what I want to get back into because it is difficult to spend much time away from her. I would take up a new film only if something is really fantastic and different,” Lara, who is married to tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi, told IANS in an interview.

“I am putting everything on the backburner, so my baby is my first priority,” added the doting mom.

Lara has just wrapped up shooting for Bejoy Nambiar’s “David” and says she chose to be a part of the film as it didn’t require her to work more and at the same time it was different from what she has done so far.
“My role in ‘David’ was not massive in terms of screen time, but it was challenging as I hadn’t done anything like that and so I agreed to be a part of it,” she said.

Actress Lara Dutta says its too early to talk about the sequel to her debut production Chalo Dilli as the film is still in its scripting phase. She says she will go ahead with the sequel only if the story is better than the original.

“There is lot of speculation of the sequel to Chalo Dilli. We’ve got writers working on the story. (But) I would put my name and hard work behind it only if the story comes out really better than the earlier one,” Lara told IANS. “I think sequels are very tricky to do. If you don’t have anything better than the first one, you shouldn’t do it,” she added.

Chalo Dilli, which released in 2011, marked the former beauty queen’s foray into movie production under her banner Bheegi Basanti Productions. The film featured Lara and Vinay Pathak in lead roles and won critical acclaim.

For now, the actress has wrapped up Bejoy Nambiar’s David and is now working on two scripts, which will again be produced by her.

“I am busy with my production house Bheegi Basanti. We are right now working on two scripts. One is likely to go on floors in February next year, while the other by the end of next year,” said Lara, who is the mother of seven-month-old Saira, her daughter with tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi.

The idea of travelling around the world in just 20 minutes could be implausible for many of us, but not Lara Dutta. The actress took people on a trip around the globe in 20 minutes at the launch of the office of US-based travel website Expedia here Friday night.

The former beauty queen took media as well as the guests on a walk across the 42,000 sq. ft. property, designed in a way to represent various global destinations like Las Vegas, Rio De Janeiro, Beijing, Moscow, and Fiji among others.

“A walk around the place helps one identify with the thought of Expedia. I was brimming with excitement as we went around each zone that represented a travel destination,” said Lara at the launch of the ‘travel themed’ workplace of the global website’s India office here.
