ldutta5Ever since she became a mother in 2012, Lara Dutta has stayed away from the arc lights (except for a small role in Bejoy Nambiar’s David earlier this year). But now, we can confirm that the actor is all set to make a comeback with her second venture, titled Chalo China, a sequel to her 2011 hit, Chalo Dilli, with Vinay Pathak.

The latter was Lara’s first film under her banner, Bheegi Basanti Productions. “Although Lara has been away, she is excited about the sequel. It was always on their (her and Mahesh Bhupathi, her husband and partner in the production house) mind. And now that her daughter Saira is over a year old, Lara feels that she can slowly look into her professional life too. Right now, the script is being readied,” says an insider close to the actor.

When contacted, Pathak confirms this development, saying “Yes, Lara and I will be back together. We are planning the sequel and the script is being written as we speak. So, the shoot will start soon.”

Although Lara is yet to go on record, Shashant Shah, who directed the original, is unlikely to helm part two. Instead, Shashanka Ghosh, who is known for films like Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II (2003) and Quick Gun Murugan (2009), might direct the second film.

In all likelihood, the film will go on the floors later this year. Other than this, Lara is yet to sign any other project.

68274880Skin and hair concerns are a constant worry in many people’s lives. We speak to renowned cosmetologist Dr Dinyar Workingboxwalla who has celebrity clients like Lara Dutta and Jacqueline Fernandez and is the author of ‘Beauty Unleashed: A Comprehensive Guide To Getting Perfect Skin And Hair’ about his methods and tips for better skin and hair care.

What are the most common beauty problems that Indians face these days and what solutions do you suggest?

The most common skin problems that I come across these days are pigmentation, ageing andacne. Due to sun exposure and humidity, the skin gets pigmented, tanned, becomes prone to acne and also ages faster. I always suggest my clients to protect their skin from the sun – not just sunscreen, but shield themselves with a physical barrier like an umbrella, a scarf, hat, sunglass, etc when going out. People need to understand that even if it isn’t sunny and even if they are at home, they need to apply sunscreen as UVA rays can penetrate the skin even when it is cloudy. They are present all year round and cause damage to our skin. It is also essential to cleanse your skin regularly as dirt can clog pores and result in pimples. So wash your face every time you come from outside. Read the rest of this entry »

1317105577494135Filmmaker Shashant Shah, who directed “Chalo Dilli”, is happy that the makers are making its sequel, titled “Chalo China”, and wishes the team good luck. Shashanka Ghosh, who directed movies like “Waise Bhi Hota Hai 2″ and “Quick Gun Murugan”, will helm the part two.

“I am happy that they are taking ahead the film. It will be a franchise now. I am not directing the film, but I wish good luck to the team. I don’t know the story of the sequel, but I know the director very well and I am happy for him. I hope the sequel does better than the first one,” Shah told IANS.

“Chalo Dilli” marked model-turned-actress Lara Dutta’s maiden production venture, which saw her playing the lead along with Vinay Pathak. Produced under her banner Bheegi Basanti Productions, the film came out in 2011 and critics described it as a refreshing story with a lot of heart. Shah said: “When we finished shooting for ‘Chalo Dilli’, Lara and (her husband and tennis ace) Mahesh Bhupati asked me to write the sequel, but I didn’t see the story going ahead. So, later Lara informed me that they are making a sequel and I was more than happy for her.” In the sequel, Lara and Vinay will be seen in the key roles.

Welcoming HELLO! into her breezy, boho apartment in suburban Mumbai, Lara Dutta opens the door in a crisp white T-shirt and jeans. She is dressed like the archetypal girl-next-door, but still exudes the easy elegance that won her the Miss Universe crown nearly a decade ago. For a while, she has been one of the many PYTs on-the-make, but now there is a perceptible glow about Lara. And it certainly doesn’t come out of the make-up box. Bring up the recent success of ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’, and you hear a blossoming actress: “I noticed a change in people when I went for the movie’s trial show. People walked in expecting just another movie with Lara in it. But after the show, I walked out and people from the industry, some of whom I have always admired, were applauding. I never wanted to be Lara the ‘star’ but Lara the actor, and that’s what happened that night.” Sighing at the memory, she adds, “It’s taken for me four years to get there, to be applauded and lauded for talent more than anything else. This gives you amazing high, and it’s really been fantastic. People I have always admired and wanted to work with are approaching me now. I finally feel that I’m on the right track.”
