Sports and films make for a merry romance. Lara Dutta finds herself in the throes of it, writes Ashwini Deshmukh. Oh yes, the actress is also ready to direct her first film.

She’s just back from an outdoor schedule and is packing her valises for another. She’s off to Paris to model for Louis Vuitton at the Paris Fashion Week. “Once a model, always a model,” she says excitedly. Clearly Lara Dutta is bustling with activity. There are hazaar things to do before she can zoom off to Paris. She has to make arrangements for her dogs, look after minute things around her house, the works. For the time being, she’s packed off her three dogs to another part of the house so that we can chat in peace. She looks exquisite as she walks across in a short dress. Her caramelised skin glows sans make-up. After she’s done with her chores, she makes herself comfortable beside me. “The most difficult part of my career is being a single woman,” she sighs. “I live on my own. 001 (5)Actress-producer Lara Dutta is loving the experience of being behind the camera, but she says producing films is not easy.

Lara, who turned producer with the 2011 film “Chalo Dilli”, told: “I’m doing a lot of stuff which is behind the camera, so that’s a new phase for me and I am enjoying being behind the cameras more than anything else. It’s been a tremendous learning experience and I had a great experience with ‘Chalo Dilli’ and I’m proud of my film that I made.”

The movie features Lara and Vinay Pathak. “The idea was to grow by making a medium budget film which is high on content. In this industry, it’s hard to come by good content… it’s a tough job, and being a producer is not easy. I am enjoying in that process,” she added.

What about plans of directing a film? “I’am not going to direct in a hurry. There is lot of production work going on right now. I am excited about it.” Besides producing films, Lara Dutta also plans to produce TV shows.

“We are going to be looking at TV, but I can’t talk about it. You will hear about it. Television is opening up massively, people will see many more changes on TV… we have got interesting things and a great show in plans.” Meanwhile, on the big screen, the actress will be seen in the “Chalo Dilli” sequel, which will soon go on floors.
