Earlier we reported that former Miss Universe Lara Dutta and her husband, sports legend Mahesh Bhupathi joined hands for Big Daddy Productions which came with the witty film Chalo Dilli. Though Chalo China was on the cards, the production house decided to have Lara Dutta paired opposite Kay Kay Menon in the film Abhi Nahi Toh Kabhi Nahi.

Now, we hear that Big Daddy Productions has collaborated with Virendra K Arora and Arjun N Kapoor for many films and Abhi Nahi Toh Kabhi Nahi will be their first co-production. Also, they will be producing some more films in different genres. They have decided that the second film in line will be a musical love story Tamanna Radio Company and later, they are also thinking of making a romcom titled Matchfixing. But the number of films does not end there. Apparently, they have even locked a fourth script which will be an emotional thriller and it will be directed by a National award winning filmmaker.

Commenting on the association, Arjun N Kapoor stated that as a production house they will concentrate on making films which will not only have quality content but will also be beneficial from the business point of view. He also further added that they will be joining hands with prominent studios and renowned production houses in order to fulfill their dream of making films that will grab the attention of viewers.

Previously, we had also mentioned that Abhi Nahi Toh Kabhi Nahi will also star Pankaj Kapur and Rajeev Khandelwal. However, we hear that film will have nine prominent characters.

Lara Dutta, the last Indian lass to bring the Miss Universe crown home in 2000, is mentoring aspiring beauty queens through her TV debut show `Miss Diva Universe`. She says it is time to focus on the new lot, their individualities and train them to be all-rounders. “Miss Diva Universe 2014”, which premiered Oct 6 on channel Zee Café, is a whole new property and completely re-branded, she said.

“What I like most about it is that with the show, the country will actually get a chance to know the girls who are competing for international crown rather then seeing newspaper one morning and reading about the winner,” Lara told reporters. Most importantly, the show helps in discovering the 15 contestants’ individuality. “All of them (aspirants) either try to embrace Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka or me, but I think if they can bring their own individuality and personality, it will be more important thing.

“Be yourself. Be totally comfortable and confident in your skin. That’s what we are looking at,” said the diva when asked about the USP of the TV show. Srishti Rana bagged the Miss Asia Pacific World title last year, but it has been a dry spell for India at Miss Universe and Miss World contests since 2000. Lara says there are several reasons behind the contestants not winning the crown.

“The (format of the) contest has changed a lot from the time Priyanka Chopra, Dia Mirza or I won. So, I think it’s good step to re-brand the entire thing because internationally too the requirements are changing. The way the contests are conducted is way different from the time we won,” said the 36-year-old.

The tennis champ will produce his wife’s comeback film, a quirky family comedy. Lara Dutta was supposed to return from a three-year maternity leave with Chalo China, the sequel of her first home production, Chalo Dilli.

In an earlier interview to Mirror (February 24), she had sounded upbeat about taking the franchise forward. “Chalo China will be shot in multiple locations across Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia and China. This film is not set in India,” she had said. But those travel plans have been put on hold for now.

Mirror has learnt that Lara, who was last seen in a special appearance in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 in 2011, will now make her comeback with a film which will be co-produced by her tennis star husband, Mahesh Bhupathi, along with debutant producer Virender Arora.

Titled Abhi Nahi To Kabhi Nahi, the comedy of errors revolves around a quirky Indian family. “Lara plays Pankaj Kapur’s daughter, a well-to-do small town girl who runs a cafe. Her life turns topsy turvy when she falls in love with Kay Kay Menon’s character, an aspiring hotelier,” revealed a source close to the production. The source added that Lara was bowled over by the script and instantly agreed to come on board. “It’s Kay Kay’s most romantic film yet and a perfect vehicle for the former Miss Universe to get back in Bollywood,” said the source.

The film boasts of an ensemble cast and negotiations are underway with several other actors. Abhi Nahi To Kabhi Nahi goes on floors in December and is expected to be shot extensively in North India.
