Gitanjali Jewels, the flagship multi brand retail jewelry chain of Gitanjali Group, released its new TVC that brings to life the character of the modern-day couple, portrayed by actor, producer, brand ambassador Lara Dutta and her husband the globally renowned tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi. The new advertising campaign that has gone live coincides with the beginning of the eight month long festive season, starting in August.

The film is an emotional story of Lara reminiscing about several milestones of her life and each memory is triggered by her favorite jewelry pieces from the Leading Jewelers of the World available at Gitanjali Jewels. Through Gitanjali’s diamond jewelry, Lara relives these key events, like when Mahesh proposed to her on a tennis court or her wedding dance or even an evening out. The love is only growing stronger and every moment at each stage is celebrated with jewelry.

Gitanjali Jewel’s new campaign, conceptualized by Madvice along with independent Creative Consultant, Harshad Sharma, is about the simple concept of celebrating love and how reliving that romantic love is an often-indulged phenomenon by most women. A quintessential love story is incomplete without jewelry, be it engagement, wedding or a special function. Jewelry makes the moment special and gets etched in our memory as reminders of those memorable moments.

Lara Dutta, who arrived to support the scholarship programme organised by Fair & Lovely Foundation, was all in for women empowerment. The actress felicitated the girls selected for the scholarship scheme.

At the do, Lara recollected her younger days as she spoke about women power. The actress who’s gearing up for her Bollywood release Azhar, spoke about her modeling days and mentioned how she never depended upon her parents to fund for her education.

She said, “I started my career when I was 16. My parents were very supportive of my career decision. The only thing that my mother was concerned about me was my studies. She wanted me to at least have a degree and wanted to see me graduated.”

She further added, “During my course of college, I did not burden my parents with fees. I mean, they were financially strong to support me but I just wanted to stand for myself.”

The actress who looked stunning in a pink gown also spoke about her upcoming film. She will be seen playing a lawyer in Azhar with Emraan Hashmi. When quizzed about the kissing sequences for which Emraan is famous, Lara laughingly said, “The story in the film did not allow for such scenes between us. Bass main bach gayi (laughs).”

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, who was spotted at an event in Mumbai, said she is confident that she is doing a good job in the role of a mother.

The former-miss world further said that during her daughter Saira’s growing up years it had been fun to watch Mahesh Bhupathi play the ‘father’ role.

Lara, who has been off the silver screen for a long time, was recently spotted in the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Singh is Bling’.

She might be known for her performances in films like No Entry (2005), Billu Barber (2009) and Housefull (2010), but actor and former model Lara Dutta says that for her two-and-a-half year old daughter, she’s far from being a star or beauty queen.

“Saira’s still a toddler and doesn’t really watch TV, or even understand if she sees me on the screen. So, at home when the make-up is coming off, I’m still Saira’s slave,” jokes the 36-year-old, who married tennis champ Mahesh Bhupathi in 2011.

On the work front, Lara is excited that she’s now making her TV debut with an idea she relates to. “I’ll host and judge a reality show, and mentor a bunch of girls competing for a beauty pageant. It’s a nostalgic experience. Where these girls are now, I was there 14 years ago,” says Lara, who won a global beauty pageant in 2000.

“Things have changed a lot. It’s not just about waving at a parade; it’s also about being TV friendly, media savvy and so much more now,” says Lara, ruing the fact that India hasn’t really had success in international beauty contests, ever since she brought the crown home.

Shooting for TV is, however, something that she’s enjoying. “Television has evolved a lot over the years. I’m, in fact, producing content for TV as well, and I wouldn’t mind being part of a fiction show if the format suits me,” says the actor, who turned producer with Chalo Dilli in 2011.
