Lara Dutta turned producer with the film Chalo Dilli in the year 2011. She was seen alongside Vinay Pathak and the movie was appreciated by the critics.

Now, she is back with her second film as a producer under her banner Bheegi Basanti Entertainment. The film will be helmed by National Award winning director Sushil Rajpal and will again star Vinay.

Talking about the premise of the film, the story revolves around an NRI single mother’s emotional journey through the heartland of India in search of the anonymous donor who fathered her son.

Lara confirmed the news stating, “We at Bheegi Basanti Entertainment have been on the lookout for another story that had the same humour and emotional connect that Chalo Dilli had and have finally found that with a script that National Award winning director Sushil Rajpal has brought us. It is liberating and refreshing to pursue great stories and bring them alive on celluloid through challenging and lovable characters and most importantly to make people laugh and cry at the same time.”

When asked about Vinay, Lara said, “Vinay is a fabulous actor and co-star and I find it invigorating and thoroughly enjoyable to share the screen with him.”

This will be the first outing of Lara and Sushil, whereas Vinay has worked with him before. The film is set to go on floors in the month of June 2017.

Lara was last seen in the Emraan Hashmi starrer Azhar playing the role of a lawyer named Meera Verma.

This Friday, there are three releases having diverse theme including Azhar, Buddha in a Traffic Jam and Dear Dad. Let’s talk about the Emraan Hashmi starrer film called Azhar, which also had actresses like Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhiri and Lara Dutta in the lead roles. Well, the film had a decent buzz in the media considering the controversial Indian cricketer seen on the silver screen called Mohammad Azharuddin. The film started on a decent note having 25 percent of occupancy in the morning shows, which escalated in the evening turning 70 to 80 percent in most of the places giving a decent collection.

As per reports, the film Azhar’s first day box office collection tolled to 7 crores, which is actually a decent figure one can expect from a multi-star film like these. However, in the upcoming days, (the first weekend) the film is likely to do better feel the trade pundits and media experts. The film is likely to pick up in the coming days and despite getting the mixed ratings, it is certainly going to give a respectable figure to its makers after the end of the first weekend. The reasons are obvious, the film is enjoying a good buzz among the audience, which will generate a good word of mouth buzz working in the favor of its makers.

As one of the stars of Mohammad Azharuddin’s upcoming biography Azhar, actor Lara Dutta has called the legendary Indian cricketer a phenomenal person. In the film, the Bollywood beauty plays a lawyer hell bent on proving the match-fixing allegations levelled against Azharuddin, who is played by Emraan Hashmi.

“He [Azharuddin] has lent tremendous support to the film and obviously, remained very involved,” said Lara, at an event that saw her present scholarships to 200 female students. “He is an incredible person. After working with him over this year, I have gotten to know him and he is quite a phenomenal person,” she added.

As the trailer of the film suggests, Azharuddin remains one of the most successful and controversial captains in Indian cricket, owing to his accomplishments on the field, personal relationships and match-fixing scandals. When asked if she anticipates any problems for Azhar from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) — the national governing body for the game — Lara replied in the negative. “The film-makers have done good research on it,” she said. “They have made the film with a lot of care and thought. It will have its own destiny and we will see what the destiny is when the film releases.”
