Remember Sonakshi Sinha’s advertisement where she comes on screen and asks – ‘Kya aapke toothpaste mein namak hai? ’ Well that’s the thing of the past, as, in comes Lara Dutta who’s endorsing a toothpaste which has ‘charcoal’ in it!

A model, former Miss Universe and an actress Lara Dutta has been roped in to endorse a brand new paste by Colgate – Colgate Total Charcoal Deep Clean.

The Chalo Dilli actress had an exclusive chat with Dailybhaskar.com where she spoke at length about maintaining oral hygiene while shooting intimate scenes in films, the one Bollywood actress who sports beautiful smile, oral health care tips and a lot more! Read on…

Q: As an ex-Miss Universe and an actress how important is oral hygiene for you?
As Miss Universe I would say that well maintained teeth are equivalent to great smile, and a great smile certainly endears public. As an actor, yes oral hygiene is extremely important especially when we do intimate scenes and that too with complete strangers. While shooting such sequences you don’t want to come across as an unhygienic idiot who people shy away from.

Q: How do you take care of oral hygiene when you have to slip into a lip-lock scene?
I use a mouth wash before shooting such a scene. However, I take care of my dentals everyday and keep them clean whether I have to do a lip-lock scene or not. I am on auto-pilot when it comes to brushing. I do it twice a day on a regular basis. I also floss my teeth everyday.

Q: When was the last time you visited a dentist and what was the purpose?
People take oral hygiene for granted and visit a dentist only when they are in pain. I make it a point to visit my dentist once every six months. A dentist is a very important person of my life, who I visited just six weeks ago for a routine check up.

Q: Have you ever had a root canal or a tooth cavity?
Frankly speaking, never! My mother was a Hitler when it came to dental hygiene. She would see to it that I brushed and visited a dentist regularly.

Q: Name a Bollywood actress whose smile you think is the most beautiful of all!
That should be Deepika Padukone. I feel her smile is very natural and warm and not a forced one.
